How To Vote for the Save RAH team

TWO DAYS TO GO- NOW'S HE TIME TO MAKE UP YOUR MIND

With only two days left to consider your vote, allow me to present a case….
Save the RAH Party was born out of the rejection by Health Minister Hill of submissions , argument and common sense. The founders of the RAH Party believe in the commons sense of the people and the Party is the mechanism we have of demonstrating the folly that the Rann Government is proposing.
(1) Abandon $1billion of working hospital and build another without knowing actually what you are going to build. This is like a child playing in a sand pit, half finish one structure knock it down and make another . If the Rann Government is returned will they continue with this childlike behaviour?

(2) The Private Public Partnership favoured by Treasurer Foley expects the private consortia to put up the money $1.7bn and the State won’t start paying tlll 2016. Then the payment kicks in, and interest rate of 18% to be paid back over 35 years. Our estimate (not costed of course) is that is a commitment of $1bn a year capital and interest. Like a child still learning the value of money “I want that toy, I want that toy”

(3) Meanwhile the land parcel is suspect. There are two issues – first the land is contaminated and will have to be cleaned up 40000sqmx15m deep estimated at 4000 truckloads of toxic soil to be dumped somewhere, where? It seems that the cost of doing so is not factored in to the cost. (Compare with Port Stanvac clean up, estimated cost $200 million) The second issue is the nature of the land – Parkland should not be considered ordinary Crown Land to be bought and sold. Accounting practice suggests that the value of land be included in the value of a project. It isn’t . What do you think 4Ha of land on North Tce would be worth? Why not include the value?

This is the folly that the Rann Government wants you to endorse.

SAVE THE RAH PARTY stands for:
(1) Complete the hospital rebuild on site. World class facilities quickly and cheaply
(2) Put the money saved into
(a) Health Reform
(b) Mental Health Reform
(3) Dignified dealings with the disabled
(4) Local hospitals/health units with real authority to serve their community
(5) Public Sector reform – efficient , honest public service

And that is just for a start.
