How we can save $1 billion and get a new hospital

What do we mean when we say we can save $1 billion and get a new hospital? Here are the facts...

  • EVERY high cost area in the Royal Adelaide Hospital has been upgraded - money can be saved by not paying to recreate these world class facilities in a new location. The RAH has a valued asset base of $1 billion, therefore keeping these facilities saves us $1 billion!
  • New patient accomodation can be built on the existing site - the South Australian Government has admitted there are locations on the current RAH site where new patient accomodation can be built. This has been costed at $700 million. It is possible to build this without disruption to patient services. All upgrades shown in the presentation below have been completed without disruption.

We already have a new hospital. Why waste $1 billion starting again?
